A “recovering perfectionist” shares his journey from pandemonium to peace. With all the chaos in the world today, not only around the globe but also in our own neighborhoods (ceilings falling in, ICE on the prowl, etc.), how do we cope with the growing stresses of modern life?  Our guest preacher, Rev. Tom Nalesnik, recounts a few stories from his own pilgrimage through messes, misfortunes, and misadventures, with the aim of offering some small bit of comfort for these crazy times.

Rev. Tom Nalesnik has been a member of the First Parish UU Church in Groton, Massachusetts for about 11 years. Although originally ordained in the United Church of Christ, he now considers Unitarian Universalism his true spiritual home, and has preached at a number of UU congregations throughout the New England area, including Grafton, MA, Wakefield, MA, Lancaster, MA, and Norwich, CT. His own pilgrimage has been a zig-zag from TV, communications, and advertising to the ministry. In past years, he served on a task force for small group ministry; was a contributing writer for the Faith Practices intergenerational curriculum project of Pilgrim Press; and wrote religion and spirituality blogs for the web. Now retired and living in Millbury, MA, he keeps busy producing videos for social media, including parodies of old TV shows as well as occasional messages for “Whims of Resistance,” a website he created to “make good trouble.”
